Breaking down 2022 BJCL pitching leaders

BJ Raiders RHP Austin Brooks (Plattsburg/Metropolitan CC) won the 2022 BJCL Championship Series MVP.

He also was a star during the regular season after leading the league in wins (five), ERA (0.75), WHIP (0.79) and opponents’ batting average (.070) during the 2022 season.

Brooks also finished second in the BJCL with 47 strikeouts, trailing only NKC Apartments Giants RHP Clayton Medlin (Summit Christian/Rockhurst), who finished with 62 strikeouts on the season.

Medlin also finished second in WHIP (1.03), tied for fourth in wins (three) and opponents’ batting average (.207) and finished fifth in ERA (2.58).

MSBL Royals LHP Ethan Morrow (Shawnee Mission West/Missouri S&T), who tied for fourth with three wins, finished second in ERA (1.87) as well as opponents’ batting average (.167) and placed third in strikeouts (45). He also tied for third in WHIP (1.17).

Among other standout performers, Regal Plastic RHP Jake Canent (Blue Valley North/Rockhurst) tied for third in WHIP (1.17), placed fourth in ERA (2.13) and tied for fourth in opponents’ batting average (.207).

Giants RHP Jake Lufft (Blue Springs/Metropolitan CC) checked in third in ERA (2.10) and opponents’ batting average (.200).

Creche Innovations Stars RHP Michael Daggett (Paola/Truman State) and Natural Baseball Academy LHP Noe Stroer (Shawnee Mission South/Allen CC) tied for second with four wins each.

Finally, Regal LHP Jacob Fickenscher (Park Hill/St. Olaf [Minnesota]) placed fourth in strikeouts (43), Raiders RHP Chandler Ashby (Park Hill/Crowder CC) placed fifth in strikeouts (41) and Royals RHP William Fisher (William Chrisman/William Jewell) finished fifth in WHIP (1.36).
