Ban Johnson Legends manager Cary Lundy, who has spent 36 seasons in the Ban Johnson Collegiate League, was announced June 14 as part of the 2022 class for the Athletics Wall of Honor at Park University.

Lundy, a 1982 Park graduate, has served as head coach of the Pirates since 2003.

Park has won three regional titles, reached the regional championship game two other times and won a conference tournament title during his 20-season tenure.

Lundy’s 470 career wins are a Pirates record and the most wins by a coach in any sport in the school’s history.

He was inducted into the BJCL Hall of Fame in 2016 and honored for 35 years of service to the league last year.

Lundy was the first manager in BJCL to lead a team to four consecutive championships when UMB Bank claimed titles each season from 1987-90.

He has seven championships  — having added subsequent crowns with UMB Bank in 1996, 2001 and 2016 — the third most by a manager in BJCL history.

Only Alex Nigro (Lapetina’s/Western Auto) and Lew Denny (Katz Drug Store) have won more with eight BJCL championships each.
