Mets select Raiders infielder Trey Snyder in 5th round

The New York Mets picked BJ Raiders SS/3B Trey Snyder (Liberty North/Tennessee commit) in the fifth round of the 2024 MLB Draft with the No. 144 overall pick.

Snyder slashed .567/.629/1.000 in nine games this summer. He socked four doubles and three home runs with 15 RBIs, nine runs scored and five walks.

Snyder, who had at least one hit in every game with the Raiders, closed his BJCL season with three consecutive multi-hit games, including four extra-base hits and eight RBIs.

Snyder told the Ban Johnson Beacon that he plans to sign with the Mets next week and forgo a college career at Tennessee, an SEC powerhouse and the reigning NCAA Division I champions.

Nicklaus drafted, Hewlett signed

SS Jackson Nicklaus (Rockhurst/Oklahoma) was picked No. 520 overall in the 17th round by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was an all-star for Building Champions in 2021.

Meanwhile, RHP Stone Hewlett (Rockhurst/Arkansas) signed a free-agent deal with the Los Angeles Angels. He played for the BJ Raiders and was an All-BJCL selection in 2020.
